Volkswagen AmarokVolkswagen Amarok was voted one of the best pick-up trucks
This vehicle is only available as a double-cab in the UK and it’s expensive but we believe it to be well worth the price tag attached to it. This is one of the only pick-ups that can actually meet up to the claim of feeling ‘car-like’ when driving. It still remains to be one of the most desirable and most sought-after pick-ups on the market currently. Other contending vehicles include Mitsubishi L200 and Fiat Fullback. This edge is mainly because of its great combination of the quality feel and rugged practicality of the vehicle.
The newest and latest model packs a punch with the new 3.0 V6 TDI engine that replaces the old 2.0-litre units. Other features of this premium vehicle include:
- 221bhp carries plenty of punch for overtaking
- Stump-pulling 550Nm of torque
- 1,500 rpm for towing and tackling serious 45-degree off-road inclines
When driving on the road its forgotten the Amarok isn’t an easy driving SUV although with the subtle hint of rear-end bounces that typically typifies the pick-up genre. The Amarok does fail to match up to an SUV with not offering the same level of poise, dynamism or comfort. However, with all the other features the vehicle possess that should be rewarding enough for this to not be a huge problem.
The interior fit and finish is of a high quality and visually very pleasing. Including a handsome new fascia design that both looks and feels better screwed together than competitor’s vehicles. The new front seats offer loads of adjustment to make for very comfortable driving experience. Additionally, with full steering wheel adjustment the driving position is more car-like and comfortable than you would expect.
