The e-Crafter concept was described as a “near production-ready solution for zero-emission city centre delivery traffic” and is set to be in the hands of some customers as early as 2017.The concept vehicle continues to offer :
Plus the new Crafter is powered by a 100kW electric motor restricted to 80kph.
The battery pack has a total capacity of 43kW hours and sits beneath the cargo space floor. The batteries can be 80-per-cent charged in just 45 minutes, and offers a range of more than 200 kilometres
Whats more, the e-Crafter’s design also takes into account future battery developments to allow extended ranges.
The e-Crafter concept sets itself apart from the standard Crafter through special Reef Blue metallic paintwork, matching painted bumpers and protective side strips.
The silent Crafter can also be recognised from the front by a signature C-shape in the daytime running lights, the typical identifying feature of Volkswagen electric vehicles.
The E-Crafter has a power meter instead of a rev counter, a leather steering wheel with blue decorative stitching and titanium black seats with blue trim.The concept vehicle also has a service station, in which replacement batteries for special cargo e-bikes can be stored and charged.
Confirmation of the e-Crafter’s specification and availability in the UK will be confirmed at a later date.
